Filament Employees Step Up for “Day Without Shoes” Drive
Filament Essential Services employees came together this spring to support the annual “Day Without Shoes” drive, donating nearly two full barrels of shoes to benefit the People’s City Mission.
Organized internally by Filament’s SOCIAL Team, the effort was part of a larger community-wide campaign sponsored by Cornhusker Bank. The 2026 drive, which concluded on April 19, brought together 150 partners and resulted in the collection of 69,600 pairs of shoes, along with $5,000 in monetary donations.
Those contributions will directly support individuals and families served by People’s City Mission, an organization that provides shelter, clothing, food, and long-term support to people working to overcome homelessness and hardship in the Lincoln area.
Filament’s contribution, while just one part of a much larger effort, reflects a culture of generosity that continues to show up in meaningful ways.
Ashliegh Lang-Peterson, SOCIAL Chair, said the response from staff was both impressive and expected.
“Seeing nearly two barrels filled with shoes is incredible, but honestly, knowing the people I work with, it’s not surprising. Our team is always willing to open up their closets and give what they can to help someone else.”
As Pastor Tom Barber of People’s City Mission has shared about the drive, “something as simple as a pair of shoes can be life-changing, offering dignity, comfort, and a step forward for someone in need.”
Filament is proud to be part of a community effort that continues to make a tangible difference and grateful for the employees who consistently step up to support causes that matter.
